300+ ECMO runs with 70% survival.
ECMO — extracorporeal membrane oxygenation — takes over the work of the heart and lungs when they fail completely, buying time for the body to heal. It is one of the most demanding therapies in modern medicine, and Kainos runs one of North India's leading programmes: more than 250 ECMO runs with 70% survival.
The programme is led by Dr. Arvind Dahiya, ECMO-fellowship trained at University Hospitals of Leicester, UK, and has retrieved and treated patients from across the region, including severe poisoning cases that would not survive elsewhere.
Our consultants publish their clinical experience in Kainos Insights, a peer case-based learning journal. Recent work from this team includes V-V ECMO in ARDS, and ECPR in fulminant myocarditis-induced cardiac arrest.
